MacDonald, John D. (John Dann), 1916-1986.

Dr. Hirshberg was a professor of English at the University of South Florida. He began editing and contributing to the JDM Bibliophile, a fan publication of John D. MacDonald’s literary works in 1966. The collection includes biographical notes about JDM, drafts and correspondence relating to his work on the JDM Bibliophile, and extensive documentation of the JDM conference. The collection spans 1953 to 1999.

John D. MacDonald (1916-1986) was a prolific Florida author of mystery and suspense novels, including the popular Travis McGee series. The collection is comprised of his manuscripts and other writings, personal and professional correspondence, screenplays and adaptations, reviews, family papers, photographs, audiovisual recordings, ephemera, financial records and business correspondence.

This archive consists of materials that Stan Soocher collected while involved in helping organize John D. MacDonald Conferences and working on the JDM Bibliophile Magazine that was dedicated to the legacy of the prolific writer John D. MacDonald.
