Capezio Dance Award. Miscellaneous ephemera pertaining to the March 19, 1957 presentation of the Capezio Dance Award to Ted Shawn ("For his service to dance in making possible the performances of dancers and dance companies, both native and imported, both experimental and traditional, on the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, which he founded twenty-five years ago and which, under his continuing direction, has grown into an annual event of international recognition.") including newspaper clippings, an invitation (St. Regis Hotel, NYC), the official 8-page award program, various 8 x 10 - inch (black and white) publicity and ceremony photographs (credited to THE BERKSHIRE EAGLE - Pittsfield, Massachusetts) from the event, etc. According to John Martin (Editor and Critic, NEW YORK TIMES): "The Capezio Award was established late in 1951 for the purpose of contributing to public awareness of the progress of the dance in the United States..."
