These documents cover York's career from 1961, when he was head of the Federal Extension Service at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), his years at the University of Florida and as Chancellor of the State University System (SUS) of Florida, and as presidential agricultural advisor and Florida educational activist through 2005. This series contains drafts, revisions, and final copies of many of his presentations, speeches and introductions mostly in date order. Additionally included are copies of speeches from others as well as clippings. The documents were found in 3-ring binders with some of the binders labeled. Most of the binders had a typed content index at the beginning. Occasionally a document is listed, but not found in the binder. Also some documents were found in binders which were not listed on the index.
