Scope and Content
Series P19 contains the administrative records of Marshall M. Criser, Jr., eighth president of the University of Florida. Documented in the series are the University's entrance into the Association of American Universities, Criser's work with the Florida Board of Regents and the Council of Presidents, and the Eminent Scholars Program. Of particular note are the extensive files on the athletic program including the NCAA investigation of the football team, but also the expansion of women's sports. The series documents Criser's efforts in the area of capital development, including files on the first Capital Campaign. As in other presidential series, the academic colleges are covered extensively. Criser's involvement in students affairs is also present. Boxes 108-109 contain Criser's speeches, including a few made prior to and after his presidency.
