Scope and Contents
This series contains correspondence, reports, legislation, testimony, and other documents pertaining to FDE's fight to halt construction of the Cross Florida Barge Canal. The researcher should be aware that materials related to the CFBC can be found in other records series in this collection because a large portion of the collection is either directly or indirectly related to the Canal. However, the folders included in this series were specifically labeled by FDE as CFBC files and are most directly related to the fight against the canal's construction.
This series also includes correspondence, meeting minutes, and other records of the Alachua Audubon Society, the Gainesville organization that preceded the FDE.
