Florida History major manuscript collections include the papers of many prominent political and social leaders, as well as the papers of civic, trade and social organizations. Many of the manuscript groups contain business records as well as photographic materials that document the state's agricultural, environmental, military, and social history (the citrus, cattle, and naval stores industries; Seminole Wars; ethnic relations; immigration; etc.). Cotman Family Papers

Abstract

Photographs, articles, awards, memorabilia and other documents related to the Cotman Family. Illinoy Cotman was the oldest African American resident in Archer, Florida who could recite details from the Rosewood massacre of 1922. Her son, Henry Earl Cotman was one of the first African American students to graduate from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1970.
