Records of the University of Florida 150th Anniversary Celebration
Scope and Content
Virtually all of the organizational and planning stages of the University of Florida's 150th Celebration are well documented with the lists of tasks, correspondence, memos, emails, publicity venues, events, special projects, programs from the 150th Celebration Convocation, concerts, lectures, and much else. The materials demonstrate the tremendous undertaking to launch and realize this celebration.
In addition to the materials in the folders, which were retained in their color coded order, there are also four scrapbooks. Each scrapbook contains materials documenting the 150th anniversary celebration. Included are covers of magazines, articles from magazines, photographs, pictures, programs, posters, postcards, and photocopies of newspaper articles. The materials had been carefully arranged and organized in each scrapbook, and they present good visual documentation which coordinates with the text materials.

Biographical/Historical Note
The 150th (sesquicentennial) anniversary celebration of the University of Florida was a year long celebration from the official start during the week of January 6, 2003 to its closing in December 2003. The 150th Celebration committee, whose director was Karen Willis, started planning for programs (as lectures, speakers, outreach), events (as convocations, dedications, honors), publications, festivities, public relations work, and souvenirs in the year 2002. The celebration committee called on assistance from the entire university community (colleges, departments, units, organizations, and centers) for the year long observance of this landmark anniversary.
The members of the committee were assigned to various subcommittees which included: opening and closing events; marketing and public relations; calendar coordination; sponsorships; government relations; and advisors.
