The collection contains Dr. Abbott's speeches and some of her publications. Also included is a notebook containing her botany lectures, presumably given at Flat River.

Biographical/Historical Note

Ouida Davis Abbott was head of the Department of Home Economics at the Agricultural Experiment Station from 1925 to 1959. She was a leading nutrition researcher and wrote extensively on mineral variations in vegetables grown in different soils. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri and was head of the Science Department at Flat River Junior College in Missouri before coming to the University of Florida.
