Scope and Content

A 4-disc compilation (produced over a ten year period) representing the best of Dick Summer's stylized poetry readings and narrative "story telling" radio presentations from the 1960s through the present. The distinctive voice and writing talents of Dick Summer are preserved for research purposes to be accessed and used by journalism and broadcasting students, as well as the general public, interested in varied announcing styles and an overview of radio and television cultural history.

Biographical/Historical Note

An iconic and immediately recognizable voice in the history of broadcasting, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame radio personality Dick Summer has left his mark in major media markets (Boston and New York City) and on NBC Radio. His "comfortable and familiar" voice and style have been showcased through national radio and television advertising campaigns (Binder and Binder, etc.) and his LOVIN TOUCH books of poetry have been published by Random House and Bantam Books. In addition to his contributions to the golden era of rock and roll music radio of the 1960s, Dick Summer also hosted popular and memorable late night radio programming (LOVIN TOUCH, etc.) showcasing his poetry and distinctive "raw silk" voice talents. He and his wife, Barbara Summer, head Dick Summer Communications (advertising, consulting publishing, commercial production, marketing, etc.) in Pocopson, Pennsylvania.
