Scope and Content
The Edward J. Seibert Papers contain architectural drawings, photographs, project records, and other papers of architect and influential member of the Sarasota School of Architecture, Edward J. Seibert. The papers are divided into two series.
Series 1: "Projects, 1956-1985" contains architectural drawings, photographs, and project records for many of his projects including his most notable works such as the 1960 Siesta Key beach pavilion, the Bay Plaza condominium in downtown Sarasota, and Inn on the Beach at the Longboat Key Club. The series is arranged alphabetically by project.
Series 2: "Biographical and Miscellaneous Materials, 2003-2010" contains biographical information, presentations on Seibert's career, and other material.
This collection represents only a small portion of Seibert's career. The majority of his drawings and records are maintained by the Seibert Architects firm (Samuel C. Holladay, principal architect).

Biographical/Historical Note
Edward J. Seibert, also known as “Tim” Seibert, is the retired founder of Seibert Architects. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1953 with a degree in architecture, and found his start as a draftsman for the Sarasota office of Paul Rudolph, gaining international recognition in the 1950s-1960s for the region.
Though retired, Seibert still remains involved in the field, maintaining a close relationship with the new generation of architects at his firm. He was also presented with the Art and Architecture Lifetime Achievement Award at the SarasotaMOD Weekend 2017 by the Sarasota Architectural Foundation (SAF).
Primarily centered in Sarasota, FL and known as an influential member of the Sarasota School of Architecture from the 1950s-1980s, Seibert is known for his bold and modern architectural style. Some of his more notable works include projects such as the 1960 Siesta Key beach pavilion, the Bay Plaza condominium in downtown Sarasota, and Inn on the Beach at the Longboat Key Club.
