Biographical/Historical Note

The University of Florida's Task Force on Student Health was appointed by President Marshall M. Criser in May 1986. The Task Force's charge was to review the organization, staffing, facilities, funding, insurance mechanisms and relationships to health care providers, including the J. Hillis Miller Health Center. President Criser, noting that there was a new ambulatory care facility being planned by JHMHC and that the Infirmary facilities needed re-evaluation, indicated that this was the time to consider a variety of options to ensure UF was in a position to provide its students with the best professional services at a reasonable cost.
