Biographical/Historical Note

The University of Florida Task Force on Sexual Harassment and the Courts was appointed in 1988 and was asked to consider the growing instances of sexual harassment charges being brought in civil courts against state and federal agencies and private corporations. In light of those considerations, the Task Force was charged with revising and refining UF's current policies and procedures that deal with problems of sexual harassment. The Task Force revised the Sexual Harassment policy and also revamped procedures for reporting sexual harassment. In addition, the Task Force also recommended that the University adopt a policy regarding employee-student relationships, distribution of a reviewed sexual harassment policy brochure, and several other educational workshops on sexual harassment.
