Nitin Jayaswal Papers

 Collection
Identifier: MSS 0651

Scope and Content

Design drawings, photographs, and other papers relating to sculptures and installations including "Infrastructures" and "Chamberworks" (a Master's Research Project Installation). Some of the installations were in collaboration with artist Margaret Ross Tolbert, and the papers include a speech by Tolbert in which she discusses Jayaswal, his designs, and their many collaborations. Jayaswal's sculptures and objects include listening benches, an octagonal aviary, a round aviary, a square aviary, elliptical reflecting pools, and Anatolian tables and chairs. Many of the drawings and photos depict a dolly with a crooked wheel that described a curve that he cast to form volumetric benches. The photos depict Nitin Jayaswal and his installations. Some photos are collages consisting of multiple prints taped together (e.g., a set of photos showing the molds for one of his designs).
