Rafael Pedemonte Collection of Oral Histories
Scope and Content
The collection contains the oral histories Rafael Pedemonte used for his doctoral research. These oral histories consist of personalized interviews with Cubans who lived in countries such as the United states, Chile, the USSR, and France, and with people who have been historically linked to Cuba such as foreigners who lived in Cuba or took part in international solidarity movements with the Revolution. The interviews delve into topics such as their role during and after the Cuban revolution, their experience moving to new countries, learning different languages, earning degrees, working, family and loved ones, alongside their political ideals and relations with Cuba and the Soviet Union.

Biographical/Historical Note
Rafael Pedemonte was born in Chile in 1985. He was educated in Chile, Belgium and earned his doctorate from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the Catholic University of Chile, where he wrote the thesis La guerre pour les idées en Amérique latine. Relations politiques et culturelles avec l’Union soviétique: une approche comparative (Cuba-Chile, 1959-1973) [(The ‘War for the Ideas’ in Latin America. Political and cultural relations with the Soviet Union: a comparative analysis (Cuba-Chile, 1959-1973)]. He currently is a professor in the University of Antwerp in Belgium.

Abstract
This collection contains interviews with people who have been historically linked to Cuba who lived through the Cuban Revolution, detailing their experiences during and after the Revolution, and their lives living abroad in countries like the United States, Chile, France, and Russia.
Arrangement
The collection is arranged into seven series, as arranged by Rafael Pedemonte. Series 1 is titled Entrevistas Project ANR CUBANEXUS. Series 2 is titled Autres Entrevistas Escritas. Series 3 is titled Entrevistas Becarios. Series 4 is titled Becarios-Cuestionarios. Series 5 is titled Entrevistas en Chile. Series 6 is titled Entrevistas en Cuba. Series 7 is titled Entrevistas en Miami.
