Scope and Content

The collection includes drawings and plans for projects designed by Rick Rados from 1964 to 2003 in Florida, primarily in Tampa, Hillsborough County, and Pasco County. In addition to his own designs, the collection includes a few drawings for projects by other architects, including Harry Merritt. Projects of note include the Rados Residence and several schools including Walden Lake Elementary, Central Elementary School, J.W. Mitchell High School, and Gary Adult High School. Also included are sketchbooks, portfolios, awards, biographical materials, and supplemental drawings for various projects.

Biographical/Historical Note

Architect Rick Rados was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and graduated from the University of Florida in 1963 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He was a partner with Ranon, McIntosh, Bernardo and Rados starting in 1968. He founded Rados Partnership Architects in 1973. His practice merged in 1984 with RMBR-Bentler to form Ranon and Partners, and he also designed projects with Rowe Architects.
