Scope and Content
Reports, documents, and correspondence relating to the feasibility of constructing a canal across the Florida peninsula. Topics include the Florida Defenders of the Environment, the Cross Florida Barge Canal, the Florida Canal Authority, and the Corps of Engineers. Also included is a manuscript, "Plant Life in Florida," and correspondence dated 1940 to 1969.

Botanist, educator. Consultant to the Canal Authority of the State of Florida. Born in Virginia, 1901. Educated at Davidson College and University of Chicago. Taught at Davidson College, Southwestern College (Memphis), the University of Virginia, and the University of Florida. Died circa 1978.
