James Alexander Robertson Papers
Scope and Content
The papers of historian James Alexander Robertson primarily pertain to a bibliography of Floridiana covering 1500 to 1926. These files, which apparently were gathered 1932-1933, are arranged in chronological order and include notes, index cards and notebooks. In addition to the bibliography materials, the collection includes Robertson's translations of Spanish archival records and notes on subjects such as British East Florida, Richard Keith Call, and West Florida. The collection also includes a small amount of correspondence, including James Grant, Arthur P. Whitaker, and the Florida State Historical Society.

Biographical/Historical Note
James Alexander Robertson (1873-1939) was an editor, bibliographer, archivist, and historical expert for the Florida State Historical Society, specializing in the Spanish colonial period. He was a native of Pennsylvania, graduated from Western Reserve University in 1896, and was a research professor at Stetson University in Florida from 1923 to 1932.
