Frederick Lykes Stringer Papers
Scope and Content
The papers of Frederick Lykes Stringer include his correspondence, legal documents, notebooks and other miscellaneous documents. The correspondence includes some family letters, including a few letters by his father, Dr. Sheldon Stringer. The legal documents include wills, legal briefs, opinions, etc. There also six lecture notebooks on legal topics and a copy of Stringer's thesis from the University of Michigan. The collection spans 1874-1948, but the bulk of the papers date from 1910-1948.

Biographical/Historical Note
Frederick Lykes Stringer was born in Brooksville, Florida, in 1874 to Dr. Sheldon Stringer and Margaret Elizabeth Lykes Stringer. He earned a degree in law from the University of Michigan in 1900 and practiced law in Brooksville from 1904 to 1940. He served in the Florida state House of Representatives from 1909 to 1912 and in the state Senate from 1913 to 1915. He also served as Hernando County judge from 1927 to 1941.
