Biographical/Historical Note

Born in Georgia in 1904; moved to Tampa, Florida in 1920. Educated in Hillsborough County public schools and at the University of Florida. Worked as a journalist in Tampa, serving as managing editor of the Tampa Tribune from 1943 to 1964. Chairman of the National Freedom of Information Committee, 1953-1963. Died in 1977.
