Scope and Content

Series 2 is a logical starting point for research related to the academic life of the university. As the chief academic officer of the university, the records of the Provost/Vice President form, in conjunction with the records of the University President, one of the principal records series for information related to the development of the University's academic program. It is the primary source of information on any matters related to the faculty, including tenure and promotion, academic freedom, and faculty grievances. The series also contains excellent records of the University's committees, both permanent and ad hoc.

These files may contain documents related to specific personnel and student cases and their use is restricted. Archives staff should examine the contents of each folder before delivering it to a researcher.

Arrangement

Each of the subseries in Series 2 are organized according to the alpha-numerical filling system used in the Office of Academic Affairs. Filing keys are included.

Physical Location

Please note that a portion of this collection (Subseries 2f, 2g, and 2h) is housed in the Auxiliary Library Facility off campus and will require advance notice for timely retrieval. Please contact the Special and Area Studies Collections department prior to your visit.

Processing Note

Subseries 2h, "Administrative policy records, 1985-2010" was processed minimally. The boxes in this series came to the archives without any folders separating the records. The contents of the boxes are instead organized by filing number and maintain their original order. Where possible, folders have been listed, otherwise, the boxes remain as they were recieved.
