Administrative Policy Records of the University of Florida College of Education Office of the Dean
Scope and Content
Series 38 consists of files from the office of the Dean of the College of Education and its predecessor, the Teachers College and Normal School, from 1927 through 1969. No files for the College prior to 1927 are available. The series consists of letters, memos, reports, committee minutes, speeches, published material, budget material, and plans and proposals.
The series is divided into three subseries. The first subseries contains the files of Dean James W. Norman, who served from 1920 to 1941. A handful of letters from the Norman years are also found in the second subseries, which contains the files of Acting Dean G. Ballard Simmons and Joseph B. White up to the year 1962. The third subseries contains files of Dean White and Kimball Wiles from 1956-1969. The first and third subseries are organized strictly by subject in alphabetical order. The second subseries is divided into Correspondence and Miscellaneous Material. The latter is organized by record type (memos, reports, minutes, etc.) which are in turn broken down by subject.
Only subject files A-M exist for the third subseries.
